I believe you will find this website an excellent resource for information on the life and legacy of my daughter Samantha Smith. Since the Samantha Smith Foundation - no longer has its own programs, I was grateful for the online resource filled with informative articles and photographs. I want to thank Lena Nelson, the volunteer who created this site. Lena grew up in Russia, and Samantha was the heroine of her childhood. I appreciate Lena's desire to preserve memory for other children and adults. The site is exactly what I imagined and hoped someday to tell others about Samantha. I have shared most of my memorabilia with the site. Be sure to visit the archives section to browse some of the published cartoons of Samantha's famous letter and trip, and check out Samantha Smith: The Collection on the Maine State Museum page for photographs of souvenirs given to Samantha during her trip to the USSR. This website is a good resource for students, parents, teachers, and anyone else who might have followed Samantha's 1983 trip to the beautiful country of the Soviet Union. I was delighted to learn that the US Embassy in Russia has included a link to this website in its Youth section of the 200th Anniversary of Russian-American Relations website.
